Lone Oak High School
Class of 1951 Collection

About This Site

This page provides links to the information we presently have for the high school and the Class of 51. The Class of 51 had 38 graduates. As shown in the annual, the upcoming Class of 52 had 57 members, the Class of 53 had 47, the Class of 54 had 75, and the Class of 55 had 60 - an interesting way to present the under classes. John Robinson remained principal with very little change of faculty as the school continued to expand.

To the community and the county in 1951, the boom is on. Construction is in full swing for the Atomic Energy Commission's uranium enrichment plan located on the old KOW plant in NW McCracken County. The influx of jobs is good, the influx of people presents problems in housing, infrastructure and obviously the school. In the single Oak-K newspaper we have for 1951, there is a very descriptive editorial about the time.

In June of 2001, the Class of 51 celebrated their 50th year reunion. In fifty years, only seven had died and the rest of the class had a great time. Shown below is the program for their 40th reunion.

If you have addition information that is applicable to the Class of 51, please e-mail the site Webmaster. Please provide contact information so that we may reply.
