Lone Oak High School
Class of 1950 Collection

About This Site

The Class of 1950 graduated 55 seniors. A survey of the rest of the high school classes confirmed our previous glimpse toward the future; Junior class 38; Sophmore class 62; Freshman 54; 8th grade 71. These kids aren't even part of the "baby boom." John Robinson was principal and head of a very dedicated faculty all of which working hard to grow the school physically and academically.

LOHS housed all grades from 1st through 12th and class room space was becoming cramped. Construction has begun the previous fall on the first of many additions to the Lone Oak High School complex. The addition to the east end of the main building would add 12 class rooms, the library and a large study hall. This area opened in the fall of 1950 with the 2nd, 3rd and 4th grade area downstairs and high school upstairs. Bigger expansions were on the horizon across the whole county as began to ramp up for the coming AEC plant.
