About This Site
The dedication page in the 1944 Flash Yearbook says it all: To the Boys in Uniform from the Senior Class of 1943-1944, for your willingness to fight for your country, your bravery and courage in the face of danger and your loyalty to your class. We the class of 1943-44, dedicate this annual to you! May God be with you always.
With the war raging on, that either the annual or the newspaper were published is amazing. But, at this point, publishing one every other year is good. Life and learning at LOHS continues on.
The 1944 LOHS High School Annual from Buddy Rushings collection is in excellent condition with an intact and very stiff spin, something we didn't want to damage in the scanner process. Consequently, many of these pages are scanned using a hand scanner which often yeilds some less than perfect images. But the content is intact and very readable. We also have a single issue of the Oak-K Newspaper from December of 1943. We later received another yearbook copy from Jane Osborne Harton, which belonged to Nolan Harton, and was able to rescan for a better presentation. Also included was an original class photo and a reunion photo. Check out the Reunions link above.
We hope you enjoy these memories. If you have addition information that is applicable to the Class of 44, please e-mail the site Webmaster. Please provide contact information so that we may reply.
