1996 Annual "Flashback"

For the first time in 30 years, the LOHS Annual changed names. Prior to 1966, it had been named "The Flash", and prior to 1944 "The Purple Flash." The 1996 LOHS Yearbook was named "Flashback."

A "Flashback", whether in literature, drama or psychology is a return to a previous time or event through memories. This yearbook exhibited several great flashback episodes throughout the publication and, as we view it from this perspective, the yearbook itself is a Flashback.

The Flashback is presented below as scanned page images and may be viewed or downloaded as a PDF document via the link above. As in previous years, from the web presentation standpoint, we are caught between quality and quantity. While high speed Internet allows larger files, most users remain impatient to large downloads. Again this year we present two resolutions of the annual. The increased use of computer design allows much smaller fonts and even smaller images that show up great in the direct printing application, but when digitized and compressed make for fuzzy and sometimes unreadable content. The 64MB Hi-Res copy from above is lesser compression and clearer for the small fonts. The other choice is the faster, smaller but not quite as clear edition.

Most of the 1996 Flashback came from the high school's library collection. Our thanks to Principal Matt Houser and Librarian Brenda Metzger for allowing us access. However, the LOHS Library copy as well as the McCracken County Library copy were missing pages 1 & 2 (back/front). With illusions of a conspiracy, we reached out to class members and Abey Martin Gehrke came to our rescue. We hope you enjoy flashbacking to 1996.
