1985 Newspapers

Oak-K Newspapers from the 1984-1985 School Year may be found via the menu to the right all presented in PDF format for viewing or download.

We only have five out of a probable nine issues published for this school year, thanks to the LOHS Journalism Department. This year continues with the small "magazine" format, most of the issues were 8 pages.

In 1985 competition, the Oak-K lost its Blue Banner recognition for what might be viewed as less than adequate reasons. And from what we can tell the school dropped its membership in the Southern Illinois School Press Association as we found no mention of it in future issues. None-the-less, the newspaper maintain a Blue Banner status in our eyes.

Again in 1985, some of the issues used the center two pages as a double wide spread with pictures or print cross the seam. When that occurred, we added a third page to that spread and the issue, so that the wide spread content could be easily read and viewed.
