Class of 66 - Lunch Bunch Adventures
Scroll all the way to tbe bottom for the latest. You never know when a new picture may show up.
The Lunch Bunch is a mini-monthly class reunion and everyone is invited. We may have 4, we may have 15, local or from several hours away, every month the reunion continues and we have a great time. Yes, we have some regulars that really enjoy getting together once a month for no better reason than to say hello. We have others that are busy and come occassionally. We even have other classes joins us, that's great. If you live out of town and are coming through, let us know, we'll adjust the schedule for a visit. Stay tuned to our home page for where and when. We would love to see everyone.
Our monthly tradition started in early 2006 as the reunion planning committee began meeting to plan the 2006 "Big-4oh" Class Reunion.
After a kickoff dinner at B. Russells, the planning group met at various restaurants or a classmate's home. It was so much fun meeting, planning the reunion, looking at old pictures, finding old friends and remembering old stories; that even after a successful and wonderful 40th reunion, the group and other local classmates decided to continue the monthly meetings.
And so it has been since the reunion in October 2006. Each month we meet and eat and greet and hope that an ol' (ol' not old) face shows up, and we have been very pleasingly surprised. Its great to keep up with other class mates and friends that many of us grew up with.
We welcome all from far and wide. On most months, we meet the 1st Monday at 1pm, but if you are going to be in town at a specific date, let us know, we are certainly flexible and would love to see all of our ol' friends. We have toured many of the local restaurants from Italian to Chinese and are always open to suggestions. Each month we plan where we want to go next month and try to get the word out. Come and join us.
For April 2009, we moved our normal 1st Monday lunch to Friday April 10th in order to accomidate Jim and Jean Marie Smith Russell's Easter visit to Paducah and it was well worth the effort. A bakers dozen class mates and spouses gathered at Whalers Catch including Jim & Jean Marie, Larry and CC, Maxine, Linda, Brenda & Dave, Diana, recent Paducah relo Nancy Duff, Reva, Pat and long time not seen David Wilson. As you can tell from the pictures, compliments of Jean and Brenda, we all had a grand time. We appreciate Jean and Jim making the effort to link up with us, even if it was for a very short visit, and we're looking forward to seeing other out of town class mates in the future.
These are NOT high resolution pictures, such is what phones offered in 2006, but you can see who was there and the fun we were having.
We followed the Pasta House from the mall to Jordan's Crossing, routinely went back to JP's and Tribeca, and many others places we didn't get pictures of. In September 2009, we went to Martin Fierro Argentinean Grill and Rodizio and we liked it so much we went back in December. Then all around town over the following months. We should write a restaurant guide. But, we will end this journal of our Lunch Bunch escapades in the Summer of 2011 as we once again begin planning for another reunion: our 45th. But, be assured the Reunion Continues even beyond our 50th as our Class of 66 Lunch Bunch enjoys the continuing reunion experience. Please join us anytime you can.
Lone Oak, February 2019: Yes, it has been awhile since we posted a new picture from our intrepid bunch of lunch munchers, so after enjoying one of our favorite locations yesterday we thought we would give an update. The picture we took before this one was better, but we won't say why, you should just come and enjoy. As you can see, we are still alive and well and continue to meet each month some place in the area. Check our the front page for our next luncheon.
Yes, we are still alive and well and having escaped lockdown for at least a couple of months as of this picture. We all wore masks
into the restaurant and we are socially distancing... hey, it is a six foot table, and we are all "family."
And if you see a pattern from the last picture, this is our favorite restaurant,
but we only get to visit on Tuesdays after a holiday as they are closed on Mondays. This month we got a surprize visit from Tonda Parker Thomas who came all the way from Murray to join us. We
haven't seen Tonda since the 50th. Great to catch up.
We decided it was time for a new picture if nothing else than just proof of life. It has been both an eventful and boring year as some of us have
endurred a long recovery from Covid, lockdown, maskhaven, etc.; and others have escaped totally. Being careful and now mostly vaccinated, we are once again raring to roam. While it may have been a
smaller group, we continued to meet monthly to compare notes and tales. And in the last few months, plan our upcoming 55th reunion - which we will had at the end of September. Pictures of the reunion
may be found on the Class of 66 Reunions page.
What is better than fish after "Gobbling 'til you Wobble" (c2021, Diana Record), and thus we returned to our favorite seafood restaurant for
the December luncheon. We were joined by Janice Gross, whom we had not seen in quite awhile. So great to catch up and compare stories. The open chair is available for anyone else who cares to join us
from near or far.
Check our Class of 66 home page for the next lunch bunch meeting, come and join us - it is never a dull moment.
