Lone Oak High School
Class of 1960 Collection

About This Site

This page provides links to all the information we presently have available for the LOHS Class of 60, which includes the Senior Spotlight and 6 of the apparent 9 Oak-K Newspapers published for the year. Maybe over time, we can find the remaining editions and add to the wealth of history these newspapers represent.

The biggest event for the 59-60 school year was the opening of the new Lone Oak Elementary School in the fall. Upon which a giant sigh of relief was felt through the high school as the six elementary grades and upwards of 500 students moved out. The 7th through 8th grade moved into the 1st floor library side. Industrial Arts, Shop and Ag moved out of the old Ag Building into the Canery Building in preparation for the next building program. The hallways became a little less crowded and you could actually get into the cafeteria. It was a welcome relief for everyone and set the stage for the next level of planned expansion.

The Class of 60 held several reunions over the years, unfortunately we only have evidence of their 15th held in 1975. This is an image of a newspaper article which provides the names of those attending.

Enjoy what we have for 1960, if you have addition information that is applicable to the Class of 60, please e-mail the site Webmaster. Please provide contact information so that we may reply.
