Lone Oak High School
Class of 1941 Collection

About This Site

As the Class of 1941 marched down the isle to receive their diplomas, the skies over Europe were darkening with the clouds of approaching WWII. Before the year was out, the United States would be facing war on two fronts. No doubt many of the seniors found themselves in the thick of it in years to come. Yet the yearbook for 1941 seemed pretty close to routine in the usual flourish toward toward graduation.

The yearbook itself, provided by Jane Osborne Harton, class of '46, was/is in excellent condition, bound by binding screws and only printed on the front of each page. The simulated leather cover similar to other years in the early 40s period. Published as Volume III, following the Volume II of 1940 indicated this yearbook collection began in 1939. The style and layout follows 1940's yearbook with one major advancement: the addition of color - minor as it may be. Similar to last year, this edition was probably produced in house, quite probably including printing and binding. An excellent product filled with history.

J.C. Maddox continued as Principal. The building and grounds were fundementally the same as previous years, although this yearbook does give us one of the best pictures of the original gynasium as any we've seen.

We hope you enjoy this trip into history. If you have addition information that is applicable to the Class of 41, please e-mail the site Webmaster. Please provide contact information so that we may reply.
