Tanning Safety

Who doesn’t love the feeling of being tan and looking good during the summer? For me, it’s one of my favorite things in the world! There are all kinds of ways to tan, some of them including sun tanning, tanning beds, and even spray tans (my least favorite). But, when it all comes down too it, every one of these things are dangerous. So you have to ask yourself, is it really worth it?

For some, tanning is easier than others. And in my eyes, those people are extremely lucky. The harder it is for you to tan, the easier it is to burn, and the more dangerous it is. Sunburns aren’t only a pesky itch, they’re pretty serious. They can cause some major damage like skin cancer and sun poisoning.

That goes for tanning beds too, but those are even worse. Not only can tanning beds cause all of the above, but they can also blind you! I know were all guilty of opening our eyes in the tanning bed, but let me tell you; that is one of the worst things you can do! Not wearing the proper eye equipment or following through with the safety procedures can cause the UV lights to actually burn your retinas, causing some serious damage. Even spray tans have certain chemicals in them that can really harm you. Moral of the story? Its okay to tan- but tan at your own risk.
