Tom Brady, quarterback for the New England Patriots, just agreed to a three year contract extension that will more than likely keep him playing for the team throughout his whole career. The contract has a $27 million extension that is way below the average annual $20 million that top quarterbacks get. Brady is now under contract through the 2017 season.

Brady also took a below-market deal in 2005. He’s reason being was so the Patriots could sign and keep other players. Some think that this influenced his decision making again.

With Brady agreeing to this contract it should relieve some of the pressure of the salary-cap and score an extra $15 million in cap space over the next 2 years. This should increase the chances of the team being able to keep Brady’s head reciever, Wes Welker, along with cornerback Aqib Talib, and tackle Sebastian Vollmer.
