The Lone Oak High School winterguard performed at the January 19th basketball game, and blew the crowd away with their show entitled, “Cinema.” The guard consists of eleven girls, ranging from freshman to seniors at LOHS. This will be the last year for the winterguard to be only Lone Oak, next year it will be consolidated.
This year, their show was entitled, “Cinema,” featuring music by Ben Bassi and Skrillex. Their show was very fast-paced, and very fun. Arella Jones (12) says she was, “glad to be a leader for the younger girls, and it’s been incredible performing with everyone.” It was very different to see a group at Lone Oak perform to dubstep music, it is not something that has been done before. Their show featured dance, flags, and rifles for all girls.
The girls have been practicing since December to get their routine together. Jennifer Roberts (12), says that winterguard is, “Overall an extremely enjoyable experience. It gives you a chance to clean and polish your skills you learn during the marching season but with a different setting and level of intensity.”
The winterguard will also be performing in the halftime shows of February basketball games as well. Many members of the student body, including myself, will be extremely excited to see these hard-working wonderful girls to perform their hearts out.
