One month after Hurricane Isaac fell upon the gulf coast, residents of many coastal towns are struggling to recover from the destruction that was left in the storm’s wake. Many people were without a home for most of the month due to intense flooding. Residents of the gulf coast worked slowly but steadily on cleaning up the aftermath of the storm. Workers chopped up trees that had fallen over due to the intense winds and many local families volunteered to help with the relief efforts.

The Federal Emergency Management Agency approved ten million dollars to go towards assistance for damage or losses to homes. The governor for Louisiana declared a health emergency and required citizens to let workers onto their private property to assess any health hazards due to storm damage. The storm recovery efforts are still continuing steadily and residents are hopeful that things can return to normal by the end of next month.
