US Open

The U.S. Open is a 15 day long tennis tournament. The first rounds of the tournament started on Monday, August 27. Both the women and then men battled it out to see who truly was the best. It was a long grueling fight, but out of all the competitors there only stood four. In the men’s division Mr. Andy Murray and Mr. Novak Djockovic competed to see who would take home the title of the 2012 U.S. Open champion. After a long hard match Murray finally defeated Djockovic in five sets. The score was 7-6, 7-5,  2-6, 3-6, 6-2. In the women’s division Mrs. Serena Williams and Mrs. Victoria Azarenka competed to see who would call themselves champion. After what seemed to be an easy match for Williams, she walked off the court with a win of 6-2, 2-6, 7-5 over Azarenka.

For all the players that lost out early in the tournament, it doesn’t end here. They head home and get right back on the court to get practiced and ready for next year’s 2013 U.S. Open. That’s true for everyone except America’s favorite, Andy Roddick.

After his loss in the fourth round to Juan Martin Del Potro, Roddick announced that this was the last tournament of his career. Roddick had a long haul full of ups and downs, being ranked as high as no. 1 in the world. He now leaves the tour with his current ranking of no. 20. Roddick changed the game of tennis as we knew it and he will sure be missed. Good-bye Andy.
