The Amazing Spiderman: truly amazing

It’s hard to ignore the almost crushing feeling of disappointment at the news of yet another superhero movie coming out. Being the 4th Spiderman movie in the recent series, which began in 2002, gave the newest cinema almost no chance in being a hit. People felt as though this particular story line had been beaten into their brains so many times, it was nearly impossible to enjoy it. The odds were even less in “The Amazing Spiderman”’s favor when the public got wind of the fact that this movie was going to be a “re-do” of the first in it’s series.

Due to the original director, Sam Raimi, suddenly leaving the project, the producers were forced to re-think everything. Hiring a new director was the first step. Marc Webb, director of a few not-so-popular movies such as “The Only Living Boy in New York”, was the lucky one who got chosen for the job. Lucky for us, I should say, as he did a fantastic job, and put a special twist on this now “used” concept. “I really enjoyed the movie,” says a fellow student at LOHS, Michael Walker. “It was suspenseful and kept me on the edge the whole time. I even thought it was better than the first one!” In my personal opinion, I agree with Michael whole heartedly. I felt as though I had never seen anything like it before.

Now-a-days, good movies are hard to come by. Great movies are even more rare. That’s why “The Amazing Spiderman” is such a treasure. The audience laughed, awed, and even shed a tear right on cue. Marc Webb sure knew what he was doing with this one! I definitely rate it a 10 out of 10, and I’d go see it again in a heartbeat.
