Dress Code

We are all well aware of the fact that the new dress code has been effective since the very first day of school. It was announced multiple times, written in countless amounts of places, placed on our school computers, and even handed out to us in our advisory groups. As one of the first kids to be unpleasantly whisked away from class, to the cafeteria to put on the oh-so-flattering LO Flash t-shirt to cover up my “Inappropriate Top”, I think its safe for me to say that none of you want to go through that. How do we avoid it, you ask? It’s simple; follow the dress code! Or as the LOHS administration likes to say; dress to impress.

Now, i know some of the things in the dress code handbook are slightly far fetched and almost impossible to avoid, but, for the most part it’s not really too much to ask. Guys, keep your pants up! I can assure you, nobody wants to see your undergarments. And girls, the school is freezing anyways, it would do everyone, including yourself, a lot of good if you just covered up a little more. Yes, it may be inconvenient at the time, but I promise you’ll be thankful for it later.

The administrators are not kidding when they tell you to dress to impress. 16 and 17 year olds may not care how much skin you show, but employers and most other adults do. All the school is doing is setting you up for a lifetime of good habits. Do you think you’d get a job if you went into an interview wearing sagging pants or a miniskirt? The answer is most likely no. If your not in the habit of wearing those things in school, your probably not going to be wearing them when you grow up.

School is a learning experience in more ways than just your ABC’s. Who would’ve thought that  being forced to put on a t-shirt could teach someone such a lesson on how important dressing is? So, ladies and gentlemen, i think my point is clear enough. Follow the dress code!!
