With most of the season completed, the Lady Flash softball team has gotten off to a great start. With a current record of 18-3, the girls are playing better than most people expected. The Flash is 3-1 in the district, which puts them on track for a tie for the first seed in the district with Reidland. Districts will start the week of the 21st.
Jenny Chapman (8), the starting pitcher, has been pitching outstandingly. Chapman is the main pitcher and has brought home most of the victories for the Lady Flash. Chapman will pitch most games, unless the Flash plays back to back, in which case Alex Sohl (12) will pitch.
Sarah Kreuter (11) has played remarkable defense in center field as well as strong offense. Kreuter and Payton Dillon (11) hit two home runs each in the regional game against Calloway County on the 17th, leading the Flash to a 16-6 victory.
Kionna Waldon (9) is the designated hitter (hitting for Chapman), and has done very well so far, “I feel like I have helped the team out with my at bats.” The top hitters for the Flash so far are Kreuter and Sohl hitting over .500.
Left fielder Nicole Walker (12) says, “We are a strong hitting team and continue to grow stronger on defense.” With such a great start to the season, it would be surprising for the Flash not to make it to regionals.
The toughest competition for the Flash thus far has been Christian County. Although the Flash played well, Christian County played better, defeating the Flash with a score of 6-2. Christian County won’t effect the Flash’s chances of getting to regionals or state seeing as they are in a different region.
