Cinco de Mayo was a date of celebration for some, and a day full of Prom activities for Lone Oak High School students. Photos and fancy dinners quickly gave way to the dance, which began at 9 and lasted until midnight. The theme was Casino Royale, so when taking a break from dancing, attendees were given a chance to take part in casino-related games (with artificial money, of course.)

Now, what is Prom without a King and Queen? The crowns went to deserving recipients Erin Traughber and Chip Myers. “I felt truly honored,” Myers said about being named king, “I would like to thank all those who voted for me. That was definitely one of the most memorable moments of my high school career.” When asked how she felt being announced Prom Queen, Traughber said “I felt really blessed more than anything, and it was for my dad.”

Students had positive things to say about the night. “Being able to play blackjack was intense and really fun because you always had a bunch of people to play against,” commented Natalie King. Curtis Buell, Junior Class President, said “I’m glad I had the opportunity to plan it. It was a ton of fun.” A major thanks goes out to Buell and everyone else who put their time and effort into making Prom night memorable, and congrats again to Prom King and Queen, Chip Myers and Erin Traughber!

“It was a ton of fun.”
