When I was 15 years old, I changed the face of Lone Oak High and KHSAA Football. I was handed the keys to the kingdom, multi-million dollar deals, and endorsements. Everyone wanted a piece of my stuff. I was just a man with a mind for victory. I played in the storm with the thunder and the lightning. I took the four years I had at LO and enjoyed them, doing what I wanted, when I wanted, no regrets.

But it’s over now and it has been a wonderful ride. Don’t take this the wrong way; it saddens me that my time here is up, but part of me is sick and tired of carrying all the weight and the teachers and staff not giving me the stuff I need to win. Lone Oak, you're out. Payton Harris is now on to bigger and better things. A new city to mess up. I now give the keys to this kingdom to my young brother, Brady Harris. I wouldn’t leave this place without an heir to the throne. Remember, Brady, that a true champion, even when face to face with his darkest hour, will do whatever it takes to rise above. A man fights, and fights, and then fights some more. Because surrender is death, and death is for girls.

All jokes aside, thank you, Lone Oak, for making me the person I am today. Because of you, I’m ready to go on my own. Thank you for helping me form long lasting friendships. In all honesty, words can’t describe the way I feel about not coming back to Lone Oak High next fall. I’ll always be a Flash, forever. Pride, pride, Purple pride.

“...thank you, Lone Oak, for making me the person I am today.”
