When it comes to this whole “Senior Goodbye” business, I’m with the Beatles. I don’t know why you say goodbye, I say hello. If “experience is the teacher of all things,” then I have learned much more the past four years than just some information written in textbooks. I’ve not merely learned how to write a thesis statement, but also how to form an opinion and stand behind it. I’ve not merely learned how to balance a chemistry equation, but also to use reason and persevere when something appears impossible. Not only have I acquired knowledge of history, but I now know how to look back in order that I may better see the future.

First and foremost, I would like to thank Mrs. Carter for the fact that as I was writing the previous paragraph, I was thinking “Repetition of sentence structure for emphasis on the idea being presented.” Now that I’ve taken AP Lang, I will be able to successfully tackle any obscure essay topic college classes decide to throw at me. I would also like to thank Mrs. Bowland for going out of her way on the yearbook‘s behalf and letting me hop onto the staff this year despite some scheduling confusion. Then of course, I must give the nod to Mr. Jarvis, for during his class I learned how to “teleport,” and will always know that sliced bread was invented in 1928.

The memories I’ve made during high school are so numerous I cannot even begin to list them. I’ve befriended wonderful people, had some crazy adventures, and procrastinated from an impressive amount of homework. There were highs and lows, as to be expected. I will miss the good times, and thank the Lord the bad times have passed. But now, as I look at my cap and gown waiting to be worn, I snap back to the reality of time. It’s passing quickly. But this isn’t my death speech, so enough about the past. Here’s to chapters closing in order that others may begin. This may be my senior “Goodbye,” but it’s also my “Hello” to the new adventures I’m about to begin. Thank you all, and stay “class”y, LOHS.
