As boys tennis prepares for Sectional and State competition, what has been a amazing season, draws to a close. From regional teams to out of state teams, the boys have dominated all competition. Some of the tough competition the boys have played include teams such as: Saint Xavier, Kentucky Country Day, and Baylor High School. The LOHS boys fell short to Saint X but beat both KCD and Baylor whom are top in the state.

The boys have begun competition in regional play at Paducah Tilghman and won all first round games, and are expected to win this up coming Saturday. Lone Oak Teams include: Mat Townsend and Corey Adams (number 1 doubles team), Grant Hammonds and Tommy Hagan (number 2 doubles team), Bobby Kaltenbach (1 singles), and Preston O’Donley (2 singles).

Sectionals and state follow shortly after districts, the boys are excited about their chances to win. They are not taking anything for granted and continue to work hard in practice everyday. Mat Townsend says, “Sectionals should be a breeze. The team event at state is the one we need to worry about. Saint X and some of the other teams are really strong all the way down the line up and we will have a really hard time.”

“They are not taking anything for granted and continue to work hard in practice everyday.”
