Market House Theatre announced an excellent season for next year, but the most exciting of the future shows has to be the spring musical.

This musical first opened on Broadway 20 years ago.  Except for shortened versions for school performances, community theatres were not allowed to perform this musical outside of Broadway.  Until now, that is.  Based on the novel by Victor Hugo, this wonderful production has several challenging roles, most famously Cosette, Jean Valjean, and Javert.  Singers and actors from all over the region will flock to audition for parts and MHT expects superb attendance for this show because it is so well-loved.  Known for its powerful story line, stunning orchestration, and smash-hit songs, LES MISERABLES will be produced at the Market House Theatre next June.  The Market House Theatre will be one of the first community theatres to have the rights for this incredible production.  Music Theatre International contacted the theatre asking if they wanted ‘first dibs’ on the rights for this region, so Market House decided to take it.

DUCK HUNTER SHOOTS ANGEL - This production is sure to ‘quack’ you up with a cast of “two duck hunters, a depressed tabloid journalist, his reluctant photographer, their crazed boss, a shopgirl at a local Gasmart, a half-man/half-alligator, and a ghost.” Shows are January 10-20, 2013.

THE VELVETEEN RABBIT - As part of the youth season, this is a favorite in youth literature.  The show tells the tale of a toy rabbit and his child.  As the Velveteen Rabbit says, “When a child loves you for a long, long time, not just to play with, but really loves you, then you become real.”  Shows are February 21-24, 2013.

THE HALLELUJAH GIRLS - This Southern comedy about a group of women who meet in an “abandoned church-turned day spa” to overcome their problems in life.  Shows are April 18-28, 2013.

TOMATO PLANT GIRL - Part of the youth season.  This show is a heartfelt tale about a new girl in town and the bullying she faces.  Shows are in May of 2013.

LES MISERABLES - Written by Alain Boulil and Claude-Michel Schonber, music by Claude-Michel Schonberg, lyrics by Herbert Kretzmer.  Shows are June 6-23, 2013.
