Snarky Puppy is an instrumental group, and their style is found somewhere between light rock and southern gospel/R&B. This lovely blend of culture mixed with impressive musicianship produces a sound for which your ear drums will thank you. The talent exhibited is phenomenal, and no two songs are alike. While listening, one will hear charming saxophone solos and groovin’ bass melodies characteristic of jazz. The beats range from soothing ballads to lively tunes.
Originating at University of North Texas, Snarky Puppy has since become a highly revered jazz band that currently resides in Brooklyn. Consisting of over 25 rotating members, the backbone of the group includes renowned artists such as Robert Searight on drums, Shaun Martin on keys, Cory Henry, Louis Cato and founder/award-winning bassist/guitarist/composer/arranger Michael League.
The band released their latest album GroundUp on March 27, 2012. Other albums include Live at Uncommon Ground (2005), The Only Constant (2006), The World Is Getting Smaller (2007), Bring Us the Bright (2008) and Tell Your Friends (2010).
