Daniel Seitzinger (9) believes in his team, “This year’s players are a lot stronger in the infield and our hitting has improved tremendously.”

The 2011-2012 Lone Oak High School baseball team is playing well together and boasts a 7:0 record to start the season. Against Daviess County, LOHS brought home the big win 18-1. The Mayfield Cardinals were next up to bat against the Flash on March 17th and LO won 11-1. The following week, the aggressive Flash played the Ballard County Bombers scoring 14 while the Bombers only left the field with 2.  In a tournament held in Union City, Tennessee beginning on March 21st, the Flash played the Huntington Mustangs, winning by eight, 10:2. In the game on Friday, they played Dyersburg and came out with a victory of 8:2.  The next morning, they dominated the Tornadoes on their home field 9: 3 to claim the title of tournament champs.

Austin Drake (11), starting center fielder, states, “I think our team has better chemistry than in previous years. We are hitting the ball well and our pitchers are throwing strikes, and defense is making plays. I feel like we have a good shot at going to state this year.”

Judging from current statistics, Lone Oak baseball is well on their way to state.  Nick Eggemeyer (10) and Sam Goode (11) have hit the only home runs of the season but the team isn’t having any trouble crossing the plate.  The Flash have 74 hits for their season and 74 of those hits have made it to home plate, making their run total 74 in six games.

Coach Adam Sims says, “I’m excited about this year’s prospects. This group of upperclassmen have been in this program for a few years, and their success is really beginning to show.” With a promising season based on this month’s success, the team still has three months to show their stuff until their chance at “The Dream” is in their hands, and until then, they’re going to “stay hungry.”
