February’s Junior Rotarian is Chip Myers! Junior Rotarians are selected by Lone Oak High School faculty
based on academic success and extracurricular involvement and Chip is a stellar selection.
When one thinks of Chip Myers, one thinks of a gentleman who always has a smile on his face and who is never
without a clever retort. But Chip’s chipper disposition is accompanied by a chip on his shoulder that drives him to excel - Chip has succeeded in 8
AP courses: AP Government, AP World Civilizations, AP US History, AP Chemistry, AP Calculus, AP English Literature & Composition, AP Biology, and
AP Physics. He also boasts an excellent 3.8 GPA. In October, he was selected as the Lion’s Club Student of the Month, an award also based on
academic and extracurricular merit.
Even with a heavy course load, Chip finds time to succeed in other areas. Chip has been an employee of
SuperValu Inc. for 2 years as a manager. He also plays a significant amount of golf - he has played on Lone Oak High School’s varsity golf team for
3 years and has played golf as a hobby since he was 6 years old. When he’s not chipping golfballs, though, he is a chemistry and algebra tutor for
a total of five lucky students.
According to Lone Oak High School chemistry extraordinaire Tim Whitley, “One shouldn’t be flipped when they speak of Chip and his academic prowess.” With his outstanding abilities, talents, and personality, Chip is a chip off the old block.
