What’s better than wandering around 700 acres of farmland with your friends who haven’t showered in days and then
spending hours upon hours listening to your favorite bands perform live? I can’t really answer that for you considering I don’t know whether your
love for music outweighs your love of not smelling terrible odors. However, I can tell you that wandering and listening but not showering are exactly
what you will do you should head to Bonnaroo.
Bonnaroo is an annual music festival that takes place in Manchester, Tennessee on a piece of farmland that is dedicated
to the 4-day event and its multiple stages. Bonnaroo is the largest outdoor music festival in North America. In the past, It has hosted phenomenal bands
such as Pearl Jam, Dave Matthews Band, and even Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band. This year the festival boasts a lineup that includes Radiohead,
The Beach Boys, The Avett Brothers, Foster The People, and Skrillex. This group of performers alone should be enough to convince anyone to go. However,
more than 80 big-name artists are scheduled to perform this June for the 11th year of the festival.
Since Bonnaroo is only a 3 hour drive from Paducah, many Lone Oak high school students attend the festival every year.
When asked about the festival, senior Clark Jarvis said, “I’m going and it is going to be a killer time.” In explanation of this claim, Jarvis
suggested, “That many bands in that short amount of time creates musical euphoria.” Marshall Toy, an English teacher here at Lone Oak, reflected on
the year 2006 when he attended the festival by saying, “It was a true experience to see so many different kinds of people unify for mutual musical
enjoyment.”
Whether you’re into music or just spending a fun week with your friends, Bonnaroo is the place for you. The festival will be held June 7-10, 2012. Tickets are available online at http://www.bonnaroo.com and are quickly selling out. This is not an event to be missed.
