Lady Flash Have Intentions to Dominate

As the season begins, it's looking like a great year for the LOHS girls soccer team. Captains Wilson and Ashley Latham (11) led the team into their first two games. First, against Graves, the girls suffered a loss to one of the region's best. Graves is a strong team and the LO girls looked a little unprepared for their first big game. They lost 4-1 with Lauren Hobbs scoring the home team's only goal.

Their second matchup was a close one at Calloway that remained tied for a long time at 4-4 until one of Lone Oak's talented stars, Shelby Kester (11) finished a shot to gain the lead in the last few minutes. Lone Oak then held that lead to the buzzer to win 5-4. Lauren Prescott (11) said, the game "was really nerve-wracking. We started out slow and out of sync, but once the second half started, we pulled our act together. We worked as a team and executed."

The win has the Lady Flash feeling confident and hopefully they can keep their minds on the goal of winning a district championship and perhaps a regional championship.

The team recently underwent coaching changes which have drastically impacted the way the girls practice. New assistant coach Jeff Hill knows the game inside and out. An ex-coach of rival Tilghman, he shows Daniel Shannon, the new conditioning coach, has the girls in tip-top shape to perform. The girls latest game was at Lone Oak against Reidland. The girls relentlessly dominated the game on offense and defense both. They mercy ruled the Greyhounds, 10-0. Their next game is on Thursday versus Murray, which is a highly anticipated game for ladies. Come support the Lady Flash this season.

"We are ready to face this tough schedule and exceed our expectations." - Dana Wilson (12)
