2006 Newspapers

Oak-K Newspapers from the 2005-2006 School Year may be found via the menu to the right all presented in a search enabled PDF format for viewing or download. For this year we are fortunate to have all eight issues.

Found in the folder for the Febrary 2006 issue was a CD which contained the original Microsoft Publisher files and the associated Adobe PDF files that were submitted to the printer (Paducah Sun). Each page was created in it's own Publisher image and then exported to it's own PDF. Page 1-Front; Page 2-Entertainment; Page 3-Opinions; Page 4, 5 & 6-Features; Page 7-Sports, with a couple of iterations. Oddly, no color was present in the PUBs or PDFs, nor was the final page 8 full page color advertisement. The header image, as shown above - with dates and volumn numbers - was a separate file, which likely allowed different color printing. The pages were also produced with no margins, although the final print issue ranged from 1/2" to 1".

For historical purposed, we have provided both the original composite image PDF and the PDF created from the scanned images of the file publication. It is an interesting look into at least the technical process.
