1993 Annual "Oak Leaves"

The 1993 Edition of Oak Leaves is presented below as scanned page images and may be viewed or downloaded as a PDF document via the link above.

We've Only Just Begun
We've only just begun to live,
White lace and promises
A kiss for luck and we're on our way,
We've only begun

Before the risin' sun, we fly,
So many roads to choose
We'll start out walkin' and learn to run,
And yes, we've just begun

Sharing horizons that are new to us,
Watching the signs along the way
Talkin' it over, just the two of us,
Workin' together day to day, together

And when the evening comes,
we smile, So much of life ahead
We'll find a place where there's room to grow,
And yes, we've just begun

The theme for the 1993 Oak Leaves came from a classic song written by Paul Williams and made famous by the 70s singing brother sister duo of Richard and Karen Carpenter; The Carpenters; "We've Only Just Begun".

Karen Carpenter died, at age 32, of Anorexia nervosa while the Class of 93 was still in the 2nd grade. But her death brought focus to an eating disorder suffered by many teenages and is highlighted on page 6 in the January 93 Oak-K. Originally written as a wedding song and often used as such, the lyrics can appropriately apply to the major step of high school graduation. Since we have no doubt that the lyrics to this song will be floating in your head as you scan the memories in this annual, we have provided them here - you just have to add the tune. Enjoy.

The 1993 Oak Leaves came to us from the high school library collection. Many thanks to Principal Matt Houser and Librarian Brenda Metzger for allowing us access. We hope you enjoy the memories.
