1976 Annual "Oak Leaves" Spring Supplement

It's an annual discussion, pardon the pun; publish early and everyone enjoys the yearbook before the end of school, but miss Spring events, Prom, Graduation, sports, etc.. Or publish after the school year ends and include all the years events, but the annual won't be delivered until the fall. Each class's annual staff had to make that decision and the results varied through the years.

The Class of 76 decided to publish a Spring Annual which would be available for deliver before the end of the school year - great for getting all your friends to autograph them. Spring and year ending events would be documented and a supplement published for pickup later in the summer or the beginning of the 76-77 school year. Seeming a good idea... except; few seniors came back to pick up the supplement and having been published as a smaller paper back "lick and stick" instead of hard bound edition, it simply didn't stand the test of time well.

After looking, asking, begging and talking to many alumni from the Class of 76 and subsequent years, we had just about given up hope - few remembered it, no one local had it. After several e-mails, we finally found a copy, in Kansas City, and thanks to Lisa Harton Cattanach (78), it now takes it rightful place among the archives of other LOHS Yearbooks.
