Lone Oak High School
Class of 1969 Collection

About This Site

For the Class of 69, we elected to change the usual school image shown above to an exquisite hand drawn pencil image which adorns the inside covers of the 1969 Oak Leaves Annual. We do not know the artist, but it is one of several obviously original drawings in the yearbook. Great Job to whomever!

From a historical perspective, 1969 seemed to be a pretty routine year in the life of Lone Oak High School. Continued excellence in academics placed the school high in state rankings with organizations participating in many national events. Basketball was still king with a better than average team for the year. LOHS also had baseball and tennis teams along with boys and girl track teams. Choir, orchestra, chorus and Madrigals delighted audiences in numerous events. A routine year.

Except that in 1969 the LOHS award winning Kentucky Colonels Marching Band had something else to march in and finally had to share their football practice field with an actual football team. You'll have to read the Oak-Ks to get the highlights of the games, but in 1969 LOHS entered the sport of football and started a lasting tradition.

Principal Glenn Dexter graduated 176 seniors in 1969 as the student population continued to rise.

We hope you enjoy the collection for 1969 and if you have addition information that is applicable to the Class of 69, please e-mail the site Webmaster. Please provide contact information so that we may reply.
