Lone Oak High School
Class of 1963 Collection
LONE OAK ADMITTED TO SOUTHERN ASSOCIATION

About This Site

Students, faculty, the Board of Education and especially Mr. Robinson had been working hard over the past two years. Beyond the backroom paperwork, curriculum outlines and a multitude of performance reports; classroom and hallways were being cleaned and painted. Even stale chewing gun was removed from bleachers and chairs. Inspections were held and everyone was on their best behavior. And then the announcement - the whole building cheered.

The effort, the program, the results, the whole story is told in the November 28, 1962 Special Edition of the Oak-K. The staff of the Oak-K did an excellent job of documenting this major step for Lone Oak and McCracken County.

Along with the 1963 Senior Spotlight, which is the last of it's breed, we have all eight Oak-K Newspaper editions. Plus some pictures taken at an event honoring a beloved LOHS teacher, which is explained on the Teachers Tea page. In addition, a photo of the 1963 LOHS Marching Band for which we would like to identify all involved, please see the LOHS Marching Bank page for that. And finally, a few documents from the senior events of the year.

We hope you enjoy this snapshot of history from 1963, if you have addition information that is applicable to the Class of 63, please e-mail the site Webmaster. Please provide contact information so that we may reply.
